We had so much fun at Virtual Fox Fest 2020 that we’ve decided to do more online conferences. They won’t all be three-day events; in fact, the next one (Thursday, May 6, 2021) is a one-day event. However, it’ll still have the same great features everyone loves about VFF: great speakers delivering great sessions, live chatting during presentations, and getting to hang out virtually with new and old friends. This event will feature classic sessions from Southwest Fox, updated for 2021. Registration is available now so sign up today!

We’re still discussing whether to hold Southwest Fox in Arizona this fall. We expect to announce our plans for a fall conference by the end of March.

Only 76 days until we gather on the Internet!

Registration for Southwest Fox 2019 has been open for a few weeks and there’s less than a week until the Super-Saver Registration deadline (Sunday night at midnight ET – just 5 days from this post). If you register before the end of June, you save $125 and we’ll throw in a pre-conference session worth $99. Not only that, but you’ll be entered in the drawings for a scholarship that will reduce your cost even more and a license of Stonefield Query SDK, a $2,500 value. Check out the speakers and topics on the conference website.

Please beat the rush so we still have some fingernails left when July begins! No need to wait, we won’t charge your card or cash your check until August!

Registration for Southwest Fox is now available. See the Speakers page for a list of speakers and Sessions page for a list of sessions. Super-Saver Registration, which saves you $125, is available only through June 30th, so don’t wait. We also let you pick a free pre-con if you register by June 30th.

Putting on a conference is a risky endeavor. Conference centers require a guaranteed minimum income to block the dates of a conference; for a conference like Southwest Fox, that minimum is in the tens of thousands of dollars. We have to commit to the conference center by July 2nd and need your support by July 1st to make that commitment. We will not send out any “We need your help” appeals so please do not wait; register by June 30th! We know most of you like to wait until the last minute to avoid the credit card bill arriving too soon. We will not charge any attendee credit cards or cash any checks until we have committed to going forward (sometime after July 2), so this is not is a reason to wait.

Besides being an organizer, two of my companies are sponsoring the conference. White Light Computing is a Platinum Sponsor this year. CleverFox Backup from Forward Thinking Software is a Gold Sponsor this year.

Doug, Tamar, and I look forward to seeing you in October!

It is late spring and that means one thing around Geek Gatherings LLC, time to get the registration opened for the Southwest Fox and Southwest Xbase++ 2015 conferences. Super-Saver Registration, which saves you $125, is available only through June 30th, so don’t wait.

As Doug, Tamar and I have explained before, putting on a conference is a risky endeavor. Conference centers require a guaranteed minimum income to block the dates of a conference; for a conference like Southwest Fox and Southwest Xbase++, that minimum is in the tens of thousands of dollars. We have to confirm our commitment to the conference center by July 2nd and need your support by July 1st to make that commitment.

We won’t be charging credit cards or deposit checks until some time after we make the “go” decision. So there is no reason to hesitate to get registered immediately.

In addition, as we recently said, if Southwest Fox Super-Saver registration is strong enough, we’ll add some speakers and topics.

Here is what you can expect from Southwest Fox and Southwest Xbase++:

  • Two simultaneous conferences for the price of one.
  • Terrific selection of sessions from great presenters.
  • A total of 25 regular conference topics between the two conferences, 5 pre-conference sessions to choose from, and a keynote to pack your days with learning opportunities and inspiration.
  • White papers from every session (mandated by the organizers) so you can read about sessions you can’t fit into your schedule, or review material you saw at the conference when you return home.
  • Lunch Thursday if you register for two pre-conference sessions. (You can also purchase lunch Thursday at our cost.)
  • Lunch Friday and Saturday for all attendees.
  • Dinner Friday night.
  • A free pre-conference session if you register by June 30th.
So please register soon, and encourage every Visual FoxPro and Xbase++ developer you know to register, too.

A couple of announcements about our fall conferences:

  • First, registration is now open for both Southwest Fox and Southwest Xbase++. Registrations have been already been pouring in, which is great news.
  • Second, speakers and sessions for Southwest Xbase++ are now available.

Remember, if you register for one conference, you’re free to attend sessions in the other conference as well: it’s BOGO (buy one, get one free). There are some sessions specifically intended for VFP developers, including Project PolarFox: State of the Union and Xbase++ 2.0 from a VFP Developer’s Perspective. Also, some of the Southwest Fox session will appeal to Xbase++ developers, such as Advanced Topics in Mercurial: Taking it to the Next Level, jQuery 101, and Office Automation Without Office.

I personally hope you’ll head right over to the brand new online registration form developed by my team at White Light Computing. You’ll receive an email when you submit your registration confirming we received it. You’ll get a confirmation message with a paid invoice as your receipt after we process the payment.

I also want to make a brief plea to you as well. We encourage you to register as soon as possible. Our final commitment to the conference center is due by July 2. In order to confirm that commitment, we must have a sufficient number of people registered by then to ensure that the conference is financially sound. So please register soon and spread the word about Southwest Fox to all the Visual FoxPro developers you know, and likewise for the Southwest Xbase++ conference.

Thanks for the continued support!
